- 1 GW of Wind and Solar Projects Purchased
- Project to launch the company into the Colorado Market
BluEarth Renewables, a Canadian Independent power producer, has revealed its acquisition of a 1 GW wind and solar development project from NorthRenew Energy LLC. The project site is in Colorado.
The project will be implemented in several phases on private land of about 150,00 acres in Kiowa and Cheyenne Counties. The project will help in meeting Colorado’s carbon emissions targets and also decarbonise the state’s power grid.
The purchased scheme is complementary to BluEarth’s existing portfolio of over 1 GW of advanced development utility-scale wind projects in Canada and the US. It also possesses more than 3 GW of early-stage development projects.
“We look forward to entering the Colorado market with this project, which fits very well with our full life-cycle approach, taking projects from development to operations,” said BluEarth’s chief executive and president Grant Arnold.
This acquisition marks the second deal between the two companies this year as BluEarth already purchased a 247 MW Buffalo Branch wind project earlier in February from NorthRenew Energy. The wind project is located in Dade County Missouri.
