A 7 MW more effective onshore wind turbine will be developed with BRL 59 million in finance, according to the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).
The bank disclosed that WEG SA, a local maker of electrical equipment, would get the monies. It specified that a portion of the funds will be utilized to buy prototype parts for upcoming field tests and certification.
Future onshore wind projects should require less money overall thanks to the new approach. Once operational, this turbine, which has a 7 MW rating and a rotor blade diameter of 172 meters, will be the largest available on the local market.
At the end of 2024, WEG anticipates beginning the series production of the new machinery. BNDES mentioned that the product could be exported to other countries.
