Minister calls for private sector participation
- Suggests the use of PPP.
Botswana’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Mr Lefoko Moagi, has called for increased private sector participation in the country’s energy sector. He made this call while on a site visit to the Ghanzi fuel storage facility.
Speaking in an interview following the facility’s inspection, Mr Moagi said, through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the private sector can bring expertise and efficiency into the energy sector. He added that the government, on the other hand, will take care of the rules and regulations guiding the sector.
The Minister noted the importance of the storage facility and added that the facility would help the country deal with fuel shortages and open up the economy for investments.
