Brazil added 544.3MW of new solar capacity to the country’s energy mix in October. According to regulator Aneel, the new additions made up 57 per cent of all new generation capacity for the month. In total, 80 per cent of the 957.03MW came from wind, solar and hydropower plants (HPPs).
In total, wind contributes 10.95 per cent of Brazil’s cumulative installed capacity while Solar contributes 2.48 per cent and Hydro 60.70 per cent. The new additions bring Brazil’s cumulative generation capacity to 180.1GW, with 82.73 per cent being generated by renewable energy.
