EDF Renewables to build a wind park in Brazil.
- Construction of the wind park is expected to begin in July this year.
- The company to invest about $187 million (USD) in the project’s development.
EDF Renewables, a subsidiary of the French Utility EDF, is to build a wind park in Brazil. The wind park is to have a capacity of 242MW and is to be located in the Paraiba region of Brazil. It is expected that the project’s construction will begin in July, this year.
The project’s announcement was made this week by the government. However, EDF Renewables is to invest $187 million (USD) in the development of the project. During construction, about 600 jobs are expected to be created for the locals.
In Brazil, EDF Renewables already has 1.3GW of solar and wind in operation or still under construction. These projects are located in Paraiba, Minas Gerais and Bahia. This current project is expected to be commissioned in 2023.
