Votorantim Energia and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board is set to develop solar/wind hybrid project in brazil.
- Regulator Aneel has approved the pilot project.
- The project will be situated next to the existing 205.9 MW Ventos do Piauí I wind farm.
Votorantim Energia and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board will invest US$35 million in a solar/wind hybrid project. Both companies had created a joint venture, VTRM, for this purpose. The Brazilian energy regulator, Aneel, has approved the pilot project with an initial generation capacity of 68.7 MWac.

The project will be situated next to the existing 205.9 MW Ventos do Piauí I wind farm currently owned by Votorantim Energia. The entire complex is set for commissioning in early 2023. It will have a total installed capacity of 274.6MW.
Votorantim Energia confirmed that hybrid solar/wind generation is part of its strategy to expand renewable energy generation. The company confirmed that it is also looking to invest BRL2 billion (US$375 million) in the development of two new hybrid complexes in the region.
