- Brazil’s total wind capacity is now 21GW.
- Wind makes up 11.5% of the total energy mix.
- Wind capacity is projected to reach 33GW by 2026.
Brazil has reached 21.03GW of total installed wind generation. The country’s national wind association, Abeeolica, announced this last week. According to the association, the country now has 770 operational wind parks hosting 9,042 wind turbines. These parks generate enough power for 28.8 million households.
The association also forecasts that Brazil will reach 33.05GW of installed wind capacity by 2026. According to the association’s announcement, the states with the highest wind capacity include Rio Grande do Norte, leading with 6.43GW and 210 wind parks. The states of Bahia and Ceara are second and third, respectively, with 5.57GW and 2.5GW.
Wind power is currently the second-largest electricity generation source in Brazil, providing 11.5 per cent of the country’s total generation capacity.
