- FPSO explodes in Escravos River, Delta State
A Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel has exploded in Escravos off the shore of Nigeria. The vessel known as Trinity Spirit, which occurred in the late hours of Wednesday, February 2, 2022, caused fire and panic in the Escravos area of Warri South-West Local Government Area of the State.
The FPSO vessel, which can process up to 22,000 barrels of oil and inject up to 40,000 barrels of water daily, was said to have caught fire, exploded and sunk. According to reports, the vessel is owned by Shebah Exploration &Production Company Ltd. (SEPCOL). The CEO, Ikemfuna Okafor, confirmed the fire.
