The Bulgarian energy ministry has launched an application for two procedures to support renewable energy sources and storage with an overall budget of over BGN 535 million.

Procedure BG-RRP-4.032, “Support for new power generation capacities from renewable sources and electricity storage with an installed capacity of 200 kW to 2 MW”, has a budget of about BGN 107.6 million.

The procedure seeks to deliver at least 200 MW of wind and solar capacity and at least 100 MW of storage. Grants can cover up to 50 per cent of costs but no more than BGN 1.08 million, without value-added tax (VAT), per 1 MW of installed co-located storage capacity.

Also, procedure BG-RRP-4.033 is similar, stating it seeks to back capacities above 200 kW. Its budget is about BGN 427.5 million, and the target is at least 940 MW of solar and wind capacity with at least 200 MW of co-located storage.

Support is available for up to 50 per cent of costs but no more than BGN 743,215 without VAT per 1 MW of installed co-located storage capacity. The deadline for project applications is June 12.

The two tenders, launched under Bulgaria’s national and resilience plan, aim to help 1,425 MW of new renewable energy generation capacity with 350 MW of energy storage join the grid. Funding support is offered only for the storage component.
