Farmers are currently hampered by higher costs associated with fuel-powered pumps. The solar pumps present a cost-effective option for the farmers. As stated by Fleur Tapsoba, marketing manager of Buy-Us Solar, “during our various surveys, farmers have expressed the wish to have a reliable solution that allows them to obtain water at a lower cost. This was impossible with ordinary motor pumps running on expensive fuel. So, we set up ‘Futurepomp SF2’.”
The pump comprises two 60w solar panels and a suction pipe (7m in depth, 8m in height). The solar motor pump has a capacity of 3.6 m3/hour, a horizontal delivery of more than 500m and can irrigate 0.5 hectares to 1 hectare of farmland.
