Call for Financial Specialist: Desert-to-Power Initiative

  • The African Development Bank and ECREEE seek a financial management specialist for the 10 GW Desert-to-Power solar initiative.
  • The specialist will support programs for capacity building, mini-grid development, and private investment in the Sahel and West Africa.
  • Responsibilities include budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting; interest submissions are due by June 19.

The African Development Bank and the Ecowas Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) seek a financial management specialist for the Desert-to-Power initiative.

Launched in 2018, the initiative aims to deploy 10 GW of solar power across 11 countries by 2030. It will provide energy access to about 250 million people using on-grid and off-grid solutions.

The first phase targets Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal. ECREEE is looking for a specialist to support two main components.

The first component is the West Africa Regional Energy Program. This program will focus on regional capacity building and developing a regional mini-grid program. It will also include a certification scheme for training technicians, artisans, and stakeholders.

The second component is the Regional Technical Assistance Program for the Sahel. This program aims to facilitate solar power projects in the Sahel region and attract private sector investment in on-grid and mini-grid installations.

The financial management specialist will handle both components’ budgeting, accounting, internal controls, financial reporting, and treasury management. The tender document lists detailed responsibilities.

Interested consultants must submit their expressions of interest via email by June 19, 2024.
