Cambridge Power Ltd, a UK firm, has stated that it has received permission to plan a 100 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) at Bullen Lane, Bramford in Suffolk, eastern England.
The company was set up in 2018 by Pigeon Investment Management. It also revealed that it has now secured planning permissions for 210 MW of battery storage projects, with additional sites expected to be approved in the coming weeks.
Commenting on the Bramford site, Cambridge Power chief executive Giles Hanglin said: “Its location adjacent to the Bramford substation further adds to its credentials as an excellent storage site to assist with delivering the offshore wind and interconnectors on the east coast of Suffolk.”
Cambridge Power, earlier in the year, had unveiled a framework agreement with Brookfield Renewable to develop more than 800 MW of BESS assets and 185 MW of co-located solar for investment over the next five years.
