EDC to connect 105 villages to the grid
- Connection works are ongoing for beneficiaries
- 8700 households to benefit from the project
Electricity Development Corporation (EDC), a Cameroonian state corporation, is set to connect 105 villages to the grid. The recently constructed grid built under the framework of the Project to Strengthen and Extend the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Network (PRERETD) will benefit 8700 households in the North of the country.
The PRERETD project aims to strengthen and expand the existing transmission and distribution network to improve electricity access to the rural areas in the country’s ten regions. Financing for projects under the PRERETD framework is provided for by the Camerounian government in partnership with the World Bank and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
