  • Expected to rise to 211MW

The Minister of Water and Energy (MINEE), Gaston Eloundou Essomba, has stated that the Memvele power plant is set to increase its injection capacity. According to Essomba, once the Nyabizan-Yaoundé electricity transmission line is completed in September 2021, the power plant will increase capacity from 90MW to 211MW.

”The Memve’ele hydroelectric plant is already injecting 90MW of energy into the South Interconnected Network. Once the 225 Kv line is completed, by September 2021, the volume of production injected will rise to 211 MW,” Essomba said

The Memve’ele project is located in Nyabizan on the Ntem River in the South region of Cameroon, approximately 300 km from Yaounde. The entire project is co-financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Cameroon government, and the Exim Bank of China.
