- 145 MW wind project to be built in Alberta.
- The project is expected to produce clean power for 68,000 homes.
BluEarth Renewables Inc, a Canadian Independent power producer (IPP), on Monday, held a pioneering ceremony at the site of a 145 MW wind project in the Alberta province. The project, called Hand Hills, located in Starland County, is projected to push out more than CAD 250 million of capital investment into the local economy.
Upon becoming operational, the wind park is expected to produce enough clean power to cover the annual demand of about 68,000 homes. The project is expected to attain commercial operation in early 2023. The company, based in Calgary, will sell the electricity and associated emission offsets from a 10 MW portion of Hand Hills to Shell Energy North America Canada Inc.
In recent times, BluEarth acquired CAD 145 million in non-recourse debt for the wind project. This includes construction and term debt financing.
