Six solar photovoltaic (PV) projects with a combined capacity of 685 MW in the Spanish provinces of Andalucia and Castilla y Leon have completed their Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), according to an announcement by Canadian Solar Inc.
The Environmental Agency of Castilla y Leon and the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge gave their approval.
According to the company, all six projects should start construction this year and be fully operational by 2025. They will generate enough electricity to power 365,000 homes and approximately 1,700 new employments in the area. Since 2006, Canadian Solar has operated in the Spanish market. More than 2 GW of PV projects are now being developed there among six independent communities.
