Capegate Awarded Waste Management Contract in kano

Capegate Investment Company has signed a contract with the government of Kano State in northern Nigeria to manage the state’s solid and liquid waste. Under the new contract, Capegate will manage the Kano waste treatment plant and other waste facilities. Capegate intends to deploy 30 trucks, 32 compactors, 36 mini-trucks and other equipment for solid waste collection across the state.

The company also plans on installing two central sewer lines to collect liquid and industrial waste. The state Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (Remsab) will supervise the waste management services. According to Remsab, Kano State produces about 96,000 tonnes of waste annually.

Capegate Investment Company also has plans to convert the collected waste to electricity. Capegat will ferment collected waste to produce biogas which will power a power plant. Capegate will also compost organic waste to produce fertilisers for farm plantations.
