- The cities of Mongo and Ati receives funding for solar plant construction
- The country aims to reduce emissions by 18.2 per cent by 2030
The Development Bank of Central African States (BDEAC) is set to provide US$6.8 million support to construct solar hybrid power plants at Mongo and Ati cities in Chad. The support is owing to a financial agreement signed between the development bank (BDEAC) and the project developer, ZIZ Energie.
The project comprises the construction, commissioning, and maintenance in each of the previously mentioned cities. A hybrid photovoltaic-generator set (PV-GE) solar power plant with a capacity of 2.5 MW for the photovoltaic field, 1.5 MW for the backup source, and 1.5MW / 5MW for the battery storage unit.
The electricity produced will be distributed in each city by a new 20 km medium voltage (MV) transmission network and a 40 km low voltage (LV) distribution network. The solar hybrid power plants at Mongo and Ati will also contribute to the country’s aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 18.2 per cent by 2030.
