Chariot has partnered with Total Eren to provide clean energy services in the mining sector in Africa. The London-based company will partner with French Energy giant TotalEnergies to jointly develop clean energy projects in Africa. This partnership is set to come into effect on January 1, 2022. Under the partnership agreement, Chariot will invest between 15 per cent and 49 per cent in solar and wind projects alongside Total Eren. The partnership would last for three years with an option for a two-year extension. In addition, both companies also agreed to extend the collaboration to other clean energy projects beyond the mining sector.
Adonis PouroulisChariot’s’s interim CEO stated that the partnership would help to provide sustainable, cost-effective energy for operational mines in Africa. “This is a large, largely untapped market in which Chariot’s’s management has extensive knowledge and high-level business networks. We look forward to announcing our most advanced projects at the appropriate time”,” Pouroulis added. Chariot recently signed an MoU with the Mauritanian government to construct 10GW of solar and wind farms, which will power electrolysers to produce green hydrogen for export.
