- Both companies plan to deploy renewable energy systems in Zambia.
- The firms will produce 430MW of solar and wind energy to power mining sites in Zambia.
The British firm Chariot and France’s Total Eren have signed a contract for a renewable energy project for mining operations in Zambia. Both companies have agreed with the Canadian First Quantum Minerals (FQM) to provide clean energy to power their mining facilities.
The partnership is for the generation of 430MW of solar and wind power. The project aims to help Zambia diversify its electricity mix.
For several months, the subsidiary of French oil giant TotalEnergies has been working with Chariot to provide clean energy to mining operations in Africa. And since the collaboration began in November 2021, the two partners have also signed an agreement to build a 40 MWp solar PV plant at the Tharisa mine in South Africa.
