Chinese firms are driving Nigeria’s clean energy growth by training 150 solar panel installers and distributors in Lagos. The initiative strengthens the country’s renewable energy workforce and promotes sustainable power solutions.
The training, titled “Unveiling a Future with Renewable Energy in Nigeria,” was organised by C&D, a Chinese supply chain firm, in partnership with Appsolarr and Sunness. Together, they aim to expand solar education and speed up green energy adoption nationwide.
Moreover, Mr Luo Zhangbao, C&D’s Regional Manager, said collaboration is vital to solving Nigeria’s power challenges. He stated that C&D is dedicated to equipping young Nigerians with the skills to install and maintain solar systems.
He added that renewable energy supports both environmental protection and economic growth. By embracing clean power, industries can reduce costs, boost productivity, and promote long-term sustainability.
C&D operates in more than 170 countries. The company focuses on photovoltaic and energy storage technologies. According to Mr Zhangbao, its mission is to turn innovation into practical energy solutions that meet local market needs.
Meanwhile, Appsolarr and Sunness showcased their latest solar innovations. Appsolarr’s off-grid inverters perform reliably under Nigeria’s heat, dust, and humidity. They ensure stable electricity even when the grid supply fails. Similarly, Sunness provides advanced storage systems that reduce reliance on costly diesel generators.
Furthermore, facilitator Mr Stephen Ajiboye encouraged participants to stay updated with new solar technologies. He noted that as the industry expands, technical expertise will help professionals stand out in a growing market.
Likewise, participant Mrs Ifeoma Nwafor of Dinnis Investment Ltd. praised the organisers. She said the training improves service delivery and strengthens confidence in Nigeria’s solar energy industry.
