Chloroplant Secures $17m for Green Hydrogen Plant in Malaysia

  • Chloroplant Company to design, build and operate a 10 MW green hydrogen plant in Sarawak, Malaysia, by 2026.
  • The project aims to position Sarawak as a key clean energy hub in Asia and drive economic growth.

Chloroplant Company Limited, a subsidiary of Marcon LC, has won a $17 million contract from Singapore-based H1Hydro Group to design, build, and operate a 10 MW green hydrogen plant. The facility, set to launch in early 2026, will use modular technology to enhance efficiency and scalability.

The plant will incorporate European electrolysis technology to produce hydrogen using renewable energy. Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing with Korean and Malaysian companies to establish storage and transportation solutions.

By maintaining competitive production costs, the project aims to become a major supplier of green hydrogen within the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to global efforts to transition to clean energy.

Sarawak is positioning itself as Asia’s leading clean energy hub by leveraging its abundant renewable resources, including hydropower. The region is actively investing in the hydrogen economy as part of its long-term strategy for sustainable energy development. This project aligns with Sarawak’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supporting international decarbonisation efforts.

With Phase 1 set for commercialisation in 2026, the project is expected to create new economic opportunities for local businesses and stimulate job growth. Future expansion plans include launching a hydrogen container distribution network targeting Northeast Asian markets such as Korea and Japan. This expansion will further integrate Sarawak into the global hydrogen supply chain.

Chloroplant, headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, operates internationally with offices in London and Singapore. The company specialises in constructing and managing advanced process plants for alternative energy and sustainable fuel industries.

Meanwhile, H1Hydro Group continues to lead the clean energy transition. The firm focuses on green hydrogen production and distribution.
