- City Power took over the load-shedding schedule from Eskom this week to implement only two hours at any given time.
- City Power deployed technical teams on Monday to resolve the glitch; however, it will persist until they fix the problem permanently.
City Power is facing challenges in some areas where residents experienced longer hours of load-shedding. The firm says technicians are working hard to resolve glitches linked to the new load-shedding schedule implemented over areas covering 98 per cent of Johannesburg from Monday. The city’s power entity took over Johannesburg’s load-shedding schedule from Eskom at the beginning of the week to relieve residents and implement only two hours at any given time, no matter the state of load-shedding.
City Power’s spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, says they are aware of some of the concerns from customers, especially in the northern suburbs. “There have been some technical errors during the onboarding of the new schedule due to the midnight overlapping transition. We are busy rectifying that, and we should be able to allocate the blocks correctly in the new schedule by later this evening (Wednesday evening). We have 16 blocks of load-shedding, and a block will only repeat after all the blocks have been exhausted in a single day,” Mangena adds.
City Power deployed technical teams to resolve the glitch since Monday, but the power entity warns that the problems will persist until they find a permanent solution.
