Consumers to Pay 38.17% More for Electricity in Cyprus

Electricity consumers will pay more for electricity consumed in Cyprus for August. Electricity prices will pay 38.17% more than they did in August 2020 for electricity. This comes as rising temperatures and the cost of petrol sees an upward trend. The Cyprus Electricity Authority has shown that electricity prices have almost gone back to the pre-pandemic levels in 2018/2019.

The Department of Meteorology had earlier announced an extreme temperature forecast for today, with temperatures expected to rise to 40 degrees celsius between 13.00 pm and 17.00 pm.

There is still no clear indication of how the CEA plans to mitigate the increases in electricity prices.
