Better Energy, a Danish renewable energy developer, is set to deploy a 34 MW solar power plant in Guldborgsund Municipality, in southern Denmark. The park is set to be constructed over the next 12 months.
Better Energy has also signed a seven-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the pharmaceutical company Lundbeck. According to Better Energy, the agreement serves as a hedge against the rising electricity costs as it will supply energy at a fixed cost to Lundbeck for seven years. The company also noted that solar power is now more cost-effective than fossil energy in Denmark.

Better Energy portfolio also includes a 50MW solar power plant built under a long-term power purchase agreement and supplies electricity to Apple data centre in Viborg. The company also announced the development of a 125MW solar plant that will power the operations of clothing company Bestseller.
With the increasing cost-effectiveness of solar energy, the number of projects supported by state subsidy has declined. The country currently has about 1.1GW of cumulative capacity in subsidy-free solar facilities under development. They include a 400 MW solar project near Nissum Fjord, and a 200 MW PV plant in Holstebro municipality.
