- The approval will mitigate the energy deficit in the medical facilities, especially the state’s general hospitals.
- We have decided to embrace renewable energy sources, this time around, solar energy, to ensure we have power in our hospitals.
The Delta State Government said it had approved the installation of renewable energy (solar) in government hospitals across the state. Mr Charles Aniagwu, the Commissioner for Information who spoke to reporters in Asaba, maintained that the approval was given to mitigate the energy deficit in the medical facilities, especially in general hospitals in the state.
He added that when installed, the renewable energy mix would enable the hospitals to meet their energy needs as the cost of running a diesel generator had skyrocketed.
Mr Aniagwu said, “We know that our facilities, especially the hospitals, are having challenges of inadequate power supply, and the cost of running diesel generators has also skyrocketed. Consequent upon this development, we have decided to embrace renewable energy sources; this time around, solar energy, to ensure we have power in our hospitals.”
