- Desiba will incest €27 million to develop a solar power plant.
- Desiba will sell the electricity to the plant to SEEG at a tariff of 95 CFA francs/kWh
The Turkish company Desiba Energy has signed an investment framework agreement with the Gabonese authorities to install a solar power plant in Mouila, in the province of Ngounié in Gabon. Desiba plans to invest €27 million to construct the 20MWpsolar PV plant. Desiba had earlier in February signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Société d’énergie et d’eau du Gabon (SEEG).
SEEG will acquire the energy at a tariff of 95 CFA francs/kWh (over 14 euro cents). Desiba will develop the plant under the Gabonese government’s Transformation Acceleration Plan (PAT). This plan aims to increase the country’s total installed capacity by 250MW by 2025. The Gabonese government plans to do this via increased solar deployment. The government recently signed an agreement with an independent power producer (IPP), Total Eren, to develop a 50 MWp solar PV power plant near the capital Libreville.
Desiba expects to complete the construction of this power plant within the next 12 months.
