KenGen to begin Geothermal plant in June

The Djibouti Office of Geothermal Energy Development (ODDEG) has awarded a contract for the drilling of two geothermal wells at the Galla Le Koma geothermal field in the Lake Assal region.
The contract was to the Kenyan Generation Company (KenGen). KenGen began preparations for drilling and announced it will start drilling the geothermal wells in June 2021. The ODDEG awarded the contract to KenGen earlier this year at a total of $6.5 million. The contract signing ceremony was held in Djibouti in mid-February between KenGen and ODDEG.
