DPA is set to roll out electric vehicle charging stations across Zimbabwe.

Distributed Power Africa (DPA), a subsidiary of Econet, intends to build electric car charging stations across Zimbabwe. The company hopes that the initiative will lead to more Zimbabweans opting out of fuel cars and adopting electric option. DPA has stated that tits DC charging stations have the capacity to increase the charge of the Vaya Nissan Leaf (24 kWh battery) by 80% in under 30 minutes.
The company currently has three operational charging stations in the country. The charging stations are located in Msasa District in the capital city of Harare. DPA wants to install 17 more charging stations at intervals of 150 km along the nation’s highways. Divyajeet Mahajan, Managing Director of DPA Zimbabwe, stated that “Electric vehicles have zero CO2 emissions and we are delighted to add this innovation to our solar offer. We have expanded our commercial and industrial energy deployments, and combining our solar solutions with the charging infrastructure for electric cars will facilitate the transition to cleaner energy,”
In addition to its foray into EV charging facilities in Zimbabwe, Distributed Power Africa (DPA) which also over commercial and industrial solar services across the continent is looking to diversify its services. By offering EV charging stations as part of its commercial and industrial solar installations, the company hopes to encourage companies to replace their fleets with electric vehicles.
