DTEK has launched Ukraine’s first lithium-ion energy storage system. The system, which has a capacity of 1MW and can supply 2.25MWh, was installed at the Zaporizhzhya power plant in Energodar. The battery will store and dispatch electricity to the grid and maintain Ukraine’s power grid.
US company Honeywell Process Solutions supplied the energy storage system. DTEK believes a modern energy industry is vital to driving the growth of the Ukrainian economy. The energy storage system is DTEK’s latest investment into the future of the national energy sector.
Honeywell Process Solutions general manager, renewables and distributed assets Eren Ergin stated, “sustainability is a key focus for Honeywell. Energy storage is a very important part of it. “The demand for energy storage systems is increasing exponentially to enable meeting decarbonisation and renewable targets globally.
Honeywell is positioning its elf to provide a large part of the estimated 350GW of grid-related battery storage expected to come online by 2030. “We feel very proud to be working with DTEK who focuses on innovation and latest technologies to lead the charge in the energy transition in Ukraine. DTEK is the true trailblazer.” Ergin added.
