US battery maker Duracell has developed a new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery for residential solar energy consumers; the Duracell Power Center product line. The LFP battery which the company says is compatible with new or existing PV systems and all inverter brands has a power rating of 5 kW and can store up to 14 kWh. The battery has a voltage range of 44.5 to 53.5V with a maximum charge and discharge current of 74.0A. The company also states that the battery has a roundtrip efficiency of over 85.7% and is guaranteed 6,000 cycles.
According to Duracell, “The Duracell Power Center product line will consist of 5 kW and 10 kW inverter outputs with batteries expandable from 14 kWh to 84 kWh.” “The Power Center’s unique bi-directional inverter technology allows new and existing residential solar owners to store excess solar power for use in the evening, maximizing their solar investment, while increasing energy security and independence, all without additional hardware,” the manufacturer adds. The product is available for purchase in North America and the Caribbean.
