Ecoligo Acquires Namene C&I Division

  • Ecoligo has acquired Namene’s West Africa C&I business.
  • Namene will focus on its solar lamp business.
  • Ecoligo, with the acquisition, plans to expand its services in West Africa.

German clean energy company, Ecoligo has acquired Namene Solar West Africa Commercial & Industrial (C&I) division. Accra-based Namene is selling its C&I assets to focus on developing its global solar lamp business. The company stated that “Namene Solar West Africa will remain part of the Namene Group, focusing on its lighting business.”

Ecoligo sees the acquisition as an opportunity to expand its services to several African markets. For example, Namene has deployed several projects in Ghana, including a 400kWp solar PV system at the Central University in Accra.

Berlin-based Ecoligo has a C&I portfolio of 43.93MWp (including 3.7MWp in Ghana), providing reliable energy supply to about 100 companies. The company plans to expand its portfolio in West Africa. In Ghana, Ecoligo plans to install a 336kWp solar PV system for AngloGold Ashanti’s mine employees’ residential quarters. The South African mining company’s Iduapriem mine employs about 1,500 people.
