ECOWAS opened its second grant call under the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP). The World Bank, the Clean Technology Fund, and the Directorate General for International Cooperation of the Netherlands co-fund this initiative.
ROGEAP aims to enhance electricity access via off-grid solar solutions in ECOWAS member states and four Sahelian nations. This round provides financial support and technical assistance to 13 eligible project countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.
The tender targets startups, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large companies in the off-grid solar sector. Each category accesses different grant windows.
Startups and early-stage businesses can apply for matching grants from $10,000 to $25,000, and early-stage and growth-stage companies in remote markets can apply for market-entry grants from $50,000 to $150,000.
Established businesses in tough, economically unviable markets can secure performance-based grants between $150,000 and $250,000. The grant document details the eligibility criteria. Interested applicants can apply on the project’s website. The application deadline is June 23, 2024.
