- South African energy transitions affect businesses like EDF and Anglo American.
- Both companies have entered into a clean energy agreement.
Anglo American and EDF Renewables, a subsidiary of the Electricité de France (EDF) group, have signed an agreement to provide the mining site with 3 to 5GW of renewable energy over the next ten years.
The project’s primary objective is to provide 100% renewable electricity to Anglo Americans’ operational electricity needs in South Africa by 2030. According to Anglo American, the RREE will leverage South Africa’s natural renewable energy potential to develop a network of on-site and off-site solar and wind farms, “providing 24/7 renewable energy to Anglo American’s operations,” the British group said.
