- EDF Renewables will construct a 50MW green hydrogen facility in England.
- The project’s initial phase will be between 30MW and 50MW.
EDF Renewables UK plans to develop about 50MW green hydrogen production facility powered by offshore wind and solar parks in England. According to the developer, the proposed Tess Green Hydrogen plant will be located at a former steel factory in Tees Valley and will supply local business customers.
The complex will use electricity from the 62MW Teesside offshore wind park off the North Yorkshire coast and a 49.9MW solar park that EDF Renewables will construct near Redcar, North Yorkshire.
According to a report by Renewables Now, the project’s initial phase will have a capacity of between 30MW and 50MW. The electrolyser, however, is designed to enable an expansion to more than 500MW. The project will be realised by EDF Renewables UK and EDF Group’s hydrogen subsidiary, Hynamics.
