- EDF Renewables and Prumo Logistica sign MoU for offshore wind development projects
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by EDF Renewables do Brasil and the local Prumo Logistica to examine the infrastructure and development of offshore wind projects in the north of Rio de Janeiro.
According to the agreement, the firms intend to transform the Porto do Acu port, which is run by Prumo Logistica, into a hub for renewable energy and logistics that produces green hydrogen.
EDF Renewables do Brasil’s emerging business models manager, Sylvain Jouhanneau, commented on the strategy by stating that the company intends to become a major player in green hydrogen in Brazil.
The Brazilian renewable energy unit of French utility EDF did not mention further details such as the potential investment or the target capacity for the offshore wind farms.
Present in Brazil since 2015, EDR Renewables has more than 1.7 GW of solar and wind power projects in Bahia, Minas Gerais, and Paraiba states.
