EDP Renewables says that it has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with electric utility Salt River Project (SRP) to develop a 200MW solar park in Arizona. SRP will supply all the energy generated by the plant to Facebook’s new data centre in Mesa. This PPA is part of a wider power purchasing contract between SRP and Facebook that will see SRP supply the tech giant 450MW of solar power.
The 200MW Randolph PV park, when completed, will produce enough electricity to supply over 49,000 homes annually. Construction of the solar park is expected to be completed by 2023.
