The Director of EDS Ukraine Power and Engineering, Olexandr Zapyshnyi, has offered to generate 350-500 megawatts of renewable energy in Nigeria using solar and wind technology. This will contribute to Nigeria’s becoming a power-efficient nation.
Also, Zapyshnyi was accompanied by the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine, Davyd Hohiia, and the Head of the Nigerian Office, Ukrainian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Olena Nedryhailo, in Abuja, at a media briefing organised by the Ukraine-Nigeria Business Council to present the firm to the Nigerian government.
The Ukrainian company announced that it was generating about 40 megawatts of its own in Ukraine and was interested in providing the investment in Nigeria.
He said the company had worked in different renewable and thermal energy fields for 15 years and remained operational in Ukraine despite the ongoing war with Russia.
The President of the Ukraine-Nigeria Business Council, Mr Ben Gbade-Ojo, attributed Nigeria’s industrial and economic challenges mainly to poor electrical power supply. He noted that EDS should be commended for starting its African investment and rolling out technology and expertise in Nigeria.
Furthermore, the Ukrainian-Nigerian Business Council also urged the federal government to conduct a comprehensive audit of all power infrastructure assets in the country to ensure an improved power supply. He said the firm planned to initiate its enterprise immediately in the FCT and Lagos, with other states to follow.
