- Egypt seeks finalisation of resolutions

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has maintained that Egypt is seeking legally binding finalisation on the ongoing negotiations with Ethiopia and Sudan in regards to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Shoukry stated that the international community and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) should be ready to take the necessary actions if the negotiations fail.
”Egypt is pressing ahead with all political and diplomatic efforts in GERD talks, with a view to reaching out a fruitful result to achieve its goal, giving priority to protecting Egyptians’ interests”, Shoukry added. Shoukry also stated that Egypt would use all available means to resolve the issues raised by the second filling of the GERD.
Shoukry also stated that the United States (US) envoy is in talks with Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on the resolution of the conflict.
