- El Sewedy installs turbine at Julius Nyerere dam
The Egyptian Minister of Housing, Assem El Gazzar, has announced the installation of the first turbine at the Julius Nyerere Hydropower plant in Tanzania. The Nyerere dam project is carried out by an Egyptian consortium made up of El Sewedy and Arab Contractors. The power plant will have a total of nine turbines with 235MW each.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has urged the contractors to ensure the project is carried out in due time as the project will enhance cooperation between Tanzania and Egypt. The Chairman of Arab Contractors Sayyed Farouq has stated that the workers understand the importance of the project to Tanzania, and work is ongoing to meet the deadline for completion.
