A 1,100 MW wind energy project, Africa’s largest, will soon boost Egypt’s renewable energy capacity. French infrastructure fund Meridiam and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Hassan Allam Utilities, and Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power have joined forces to execute the project.
The investment, which exceeds €1 billion, will create a massive wind farm on two sites along the Gulf of Suez. This project aligns with Egypt’s renewable energy goals, aiming to increase the share of renewables in its energy mix from 11.5% to 42% by 2030.
