- Egypt and Slovenia discuss strengthening their partnership for green hydrogen, electricity and renewable energy projects.
Egypt and Slovenia are discussing the possibility of strengthening their partnership on the grounds of green hydrogen, electricity and renewable energy. This was made public by the Cabinet of Slovenia earlier this week.
The Minister of Electricity of Egypt, Mohamed Shaker and Slovenia’s Ambassador to Cairo, Mateja Prevolsek, met on Monday on avenues to support and expand the existing cooperation between both countries. They also deliberated on ways to open new investment opportunities in the earmarked areas.
Shaker, during the meeting, emphasized that some measures have been taken in Egypt towards supporting the private sector’s involvement in renewable energy projects, including solar and wind power. Of the new measures, the legislative changes that have been implemented have emerged the boldest as they have been done to clear the way for investments in green power projects, stated Shaker.
The minister added that Egypt is working with an international consultant on an energy strategy that includes raising the share of renewables in the country to over 42% by 2035.
Additionally, the preparation of the North African country’s national hydrogen strategy is progressing, and the advisory work on it has already been completed, according to Shaker. On her part, Mateja Prevolsek expressed Slovenia’s interest in enhancing the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The ambassador noted that Egypt is an attractive investment destination thanks to the efforts that have improved the investment climate in the country.
