- Strategically located for access to North American, European, and African markets, the project aligns with Egypt’s goal of becoming a renewable energy leader.
EliTe Solar, a Singapore-based solar manufacturing firm, plans to build an 8GW solar manufacturing hub in Egypt’s Suez Special Economic Zone. The $150 million facility will cover 78,000 square meters, focusing on producing high-efficiency solar cells and assembling modules. The company will export much of its output to key markets like the United States.
The project will unfold in two phases. EliTe Solar will complete a 2GW solar cell production line in the first phase by September 2025. The Suez Zone will give the company access to markets in North America, Europe, and Africa.
EliTe Solar executives met with Egypt’s Prime Minister and the Suez Special Economic Zone chairman before making this decision. The company chose the location for its logistical advantages and export-friendly environment.
Chairman Derek Liu emphasised the project’s regional impact: “This venture will make Egypt a central hub for photovoltaic manufacturing in the Middle East and North Africa. With a planned 8GW capacity, we aim to transform local supply chains and manufacturing standards.”
EliTe Solar’s new hub will create thousands of jobs, supporting Egypt’s renewable energy growth. The project aligns with Egypt’s goals to lead in clean energy production across the region.
The new facility will strengthen EliTe Solar’s global operations, including manufacturing bases in Indonesia and Vietnam. The company chose Egypt to tap into its strategic location and expand the renewable energy market.
The Suez Special Economic Zone offers EliTe Solar several benefits, such as tax incentives, lower tariffs, and faster customs processes. These features make it an ideal location for solar manufacturing and renewable energy projects.
EliTe Solar’s investment will enhance Egypt’s export capacity while supporting local supply chains. The company plans to introduce advanced production techniques to elevate the region’s efficiency and sustainability of solar manufacturing.
By expanding in Egypt, EliTe Solar aims to meet the growing global demand for solar energy. With countries pushing to achieve climate goals, the need for high-quality solar products continues to rise. EliTe Solar intends to satisfy this demand through its increased manufacturing capabilities.
Egypt’s renewable energy sector has increased, with significant investments in solar and wind power. The country aims to generate 42% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2035. EliTe Solar’s project will contribute to this target.
EliTe Solar will use this new hub to strengthen its presence in global markets while supporting Egypt’s transition to clean energy. The project highlights the increasing role of solar energy in driving economic growth in the Middle East and North Africa.
Through this investment, EliTe Solar will help meet the demand for clean energy and foster local industrial growth. This project marks a significant advancement in Egypt’s renewable energy ambitions and solidifies the nation’s status as a regional leader in solar manufacturing.
