- Advances towards 100% green power in Brazil
Embraer SA, an aerospace company, based in Brazil, has agreed to a deal that will supply 100% of its electricity demands in Brazil to be generated from renewable energy sources. The power purchase agreement (PPA), which begins to run in 2024, will aid the company in advance by a year towards its commitment to becoming 100% green in Brazil.
A Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) for 2024 will be given to Embraer to “zero” its scope two emissions and will therefore start purchasing solar and wind power. In 2021, Embraer revealed that it consumed 170,000 MWh globally, and 67% of that alone was in Brazil.
Aside from the company’s goals in Brazil, the aerospace company has announced ESG targets that include carbon-neutral operations by 2040, the use of 100% renewable energy by 2030 in its global operations, as well as increased adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and the development of low0–carbon technologies and products.
