Solar developer-operator Emeren Group Ltd and fund manager Glennmont Partners have sealed a deal to jointly develop 155 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across southern Italy.
Glennmont said the two-firm development agreement includes projects of up to 1.24 GWh in total in the Campania and Puglia regions of Southern Italy. Also, two of the stand-alone BESS systems will be located in Campania.
The construction stage will start in 2025, and commercial operations will begin in 2027. According to the developers, their commissioning will bring strong returns for investors and enhance the resilience of the renewable energy sector.
Furthermore, Francesco Cacciabue, Partner and CFO at Glennmont Partners, said, “These projects have the potential to significantly impact renewable energy investment goals in the region and beyond.”
