Emerge, Al Dahra Partner to Develop Rooftop Solar Project in Abu Dhabi 

  • A report on the UAE’s renewable energy prospects shows that rooftop solar PV could provide up to 6% of total energy generation in the UAE by 2030.

A joint venture of Masdar and EDF, Emerge and Al Dahra, one of the largest integrated agricultural businesses in the Middle East, has begun a strategic partnership to develop rooftop solar photovoltaic installation at Al Dahra Food Industry, Khalifa Industrial Zone Facility Abu Dhabi (KIZAD). According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), REmap 2030, a report on the UAE’s renewable energy prospects, rooftop solar PV could provide up to 6% of total power generation in the UAE by 2030.

Al Dahra will install the rooftop solar system at KIZAD’s rice processing plant. It will generate approximately 45% of Al Dahra’s annual energy needs. Emerge will provide a turnkey solution to the 1.2-megawatt peak project (MWp). The project will be fully operational by next year. Gianluca Fabri, Al Dahra Group’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, noted that the project on solar energy is typical to reduce carbon emissions.
