The Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) has partnered with Huawei Technologies Nigeria Limited to accelerate Fusion Solar Projects. The partnership took shape during a meeting at ECN’s headquarters in Abuja.
Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director-General of ECN, emphasised the importance of this collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s energy goals. He reiterated ECN’s commitment to guiding government policies towards low-carbon, technology-driven solutions. Dr. Abdullahi highlighted key initiatives, including the National Energy Data Bank and the establishment of a National Energy Management Center, which are critical components of Nigeria’s energy strategy.
He praised Huawei’s expertise in solar and information communication technologies (ICT) as a vital tool to strengthen Nigeria’s energy security and boost sustainable energy solutions. Dr Abdullahi assured us the partnership would support Nigeria’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fulfil international climate commitments.
The collaboration directly aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic agenda prioritising green energy. Dr Abdullahi expressed optimism that the project will accelerate innovation and growth in Nigeria’s energy sector.
Mr. Terrence Wu, Managing Director of Huawei’s Enterprise Business Group in Nigeria, led the Huawei delegation. He was accompanied by Mr. Steve, Assistant Director of the Energy Sector, and Mr. Frank, Assistant Director of the Digital Energy Sector. They discussed how Huawei’s Fusion Solar technology will complement ECN’s mission to deliver clean and reliable energy.
ECN reaffirmed its focus on deploying energy management initiatives under the National Energy Master Plan. Dr Abdullahi restated ECN’s determination to implement projects that sustainably address Nigeria’s energy needs.
