Engie plans to deploy 300 mini-grids in Nigeria by 2025.

Engie Energy Access Nigeria plans to deploy 300 mini-grid power plants across Nigeria by 2025. Engie Energy Access Nigeria, under its former name Fenix International, is a key player in the pay-as-you-go (PAYG) SHS sector. The company has announced a projected portfolio investment budget of ₦40 billion ($97 million) by 2025.
Engie’s Managing Director, Bankole Cardoso, Stated that the company would invest ₦50 million to ₦200 million on each of the mini-grids as the company looks to complete 300 mini-grids in Nigeria and1,000 across the continent.
The name change reflects the integration of Fenix International with solar home systems firm ENGIE Mobisol and mini-grid developer ENGIE PowerCorner. The integration has allowed the company to expand its services into the mini-grid sector. Cardoso also added that the company currently operates in eleven states in the country and has completed the construction of a mini-grid in Niger State.
