- ERC unveiled key regulatory tools, including enhanced Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) compliance and expanded Green Energy programmes.
- The Commission aims to modernise the grid and scale up distributed energy resources to promote flexibility and resilience.
The Philippines’ Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has reaffirmed its commitment to a just and inclusive energy transition, pledging stronger regulatory support for renewable energy deployment and consumer empowerment.
Meanwhile, Executive Director Atty. Nancy Aurora Q. Fajardo made the remarks at the 2nd Philippines Future Energy and Grid Summit 2025, held on Thursday, October 9, at Seda BGC Hotel in Taguig City under the theme “The Path to Just Energy Transition: Powering the Philippines’ Renewable Future.”
Furthermore, Fajardo outlined several regulatory innovations aimed at accelerating renewable energy investment, citing improvements to the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS), Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), and Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP). These measures, she said, are designed to attract private capital and foster competitive pricing in the power market.
She also stressed the ERC’s efforts to upgrade grid infrastructure with smarter technologies that boost reliability and adaptability while supporting wider integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER).
“Our mission is clear: to regulate with courage, innovate with foresight, and serve with integrity,” Fajardo said. “Together, we can drive the energy transformation toward a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future for the Philippines.”
The summit brought together government, industry, and the private sector leaders, highlighting the country’s unified push for a cleaner and more equitable energy future.
