- Eskom to carry out Stages 5 and 6 load shedding.
- Eskom has asked South Africans to conserve electricity during this period.
Until further notice, Eskom is expected to carry out Stage 5 and Stage 6 load shedding, with Stage 5 taking place from 5am to 4pm daily and Stage 6 following from 4pm to 5am every morning. Eskom reported that in the past 24 hours, one generating unit at each of the Camden, Koeberg, and Medupi power stations was put back in service, but two generating units at Kriel Power Station were taken offline for repairs. Delays in returning units to service at Kendal, Kriel, Medupi, and Tutuka power stations have contributed to the capacity constraints, but Eskom is working tirelessly to bring them back online as soon as possible.
Eskom has asked South Africans to conserve electricity during this period, as power system pressure remains high. Eskom thanked those South Africans who have already heeded the call to use electricity sparingly and efficiently, as it has helped to alleviate the pressure on the power system and avoid higher stages of load shedding.
